Tutorial – Swirls

When I showed you this pink skittelette last Sunday, one of the readers asked for a tutorial on swirls and I thought I’d give it a try.

Skittelette with swirls

Tools and technique

What you need for painting swirls is a smal nail art brush, a base color and a contrasting color. I’ve painted swirls with both acrylic paints and nail polishes and it works nicely either way. The paint/polish must be thin or your swirls will get thick lines. If the polish seems a little bit thick try to dip your nail art brush in some acetone to dilute the polish.

How to

  1. Paint your nails with the color of your choice.
  2. With a contrasting color, start with one swirl from about the center of the nail and finish at the nail tip.
  3. Continue with the next swirl above the first one.
  4. Add the next swirls.

You can do the swirls like a column going up as I did in the picture above or you can cover the whole nail with them. It helps a lot practicing on a piece of paper first. I love doing swirls so I’m usually doing them not only with nail art brushes but with pencils (on a piece of paper) too.

Kul med en tutorial! Det ser inte jättesvårt ut men jag antar att det är som med snirklar i ansiktet, lätt att göra, svårt att få snyggt…
