31DC2014 – Day 30 Inspired by a tutorial

By MyNailpolishOnline

When it comes to tutorials, Robin Moses is one of the greatest inspirational source for me. Her designs are so different and artistic that you just have to love her manicures and ideas! For this manicure I followed this tutorial done by her that I absolutely love! Autumn leaves on my nails, isn’t that a great idea!! The tutorial is actually quite short so in about two minutes you’ll get the idea of how this is done. For the manicure below I’ve used IsaDora – Belle Beige as a base, Kiko 254 for the red tips and A-England – She walks in beauty for the middle golden part. The leaves are painted with acrylic paint.

Take a look at last year’s “Inspired by a tutorial” which was a completely different type of nail art :)

31DC2014 – Inspired by the Supernatural

By MyNailpolishOnline

It’s a little bit early for Halloween isn’t it? Hehe, well, these decals were so perfect for the theme “Inspired by the Supernatural” that I just had to use them! I took a very similar approach as last year when I did Halloween as well. The base is my favorite orange so far which is coming from Orly and it’s called “Melt Your Popsicle”. I did a rough sponging with the black Nordic Cap NP12 without going for a gradient. I wanted to have the rough edges between the orange and the black. Then I applied the decals and a topcoat. The picture is originally done for Hail the Nails with Hail the Nails water decals.

31DC2014 – Day 28 Inspired by a Flag

By MyNailpolishOnline

Today’s theme is Inspired by a Flag and I chose the same flag as last year, the Swedish flag :D The approach was quite different though. I tried to paint some blue and yellow flowers last year while this year I tried needle marbling in the colors of the Swedish flag. The needle marbling is quite easy to obtain. I started with one thicker coat of Kiko – Electric Blue and continued by adding a yellow line (Pipe Dream Polish – Light of Day) on the middle of my nails starting with my cuticles and going down to my nail tips. Using a small nail art brush (it works just as well with a very small nail art brush or the smallest dotting tool) I dragged some horizontal lines going from one side of my nails to the other. Easy and effective. Come back tomorrow for one of the last themes of this year’s 31DC2014, Inspired by the Supernatural!!

31DC2014 – Day 27 Inspired by Artwork

By MyNailpolishOnline

Today’s theme for the 31 Days Challenge 2014 is Inspired by Artwork. This time it wasn’t hard at all to find a subject. Loving art, I chose one of my favorite artists right now, Gustav Klimt, and his famous painting “The Kiss“.  I started with a golden base consisting of Estessimo TiNS – Rich Topaz and then I did different patterns on every nail taken from the painting. The black is Nordic Cap NP12, the light gray on my pointer is Mavala – Metallic Grey (I should swatch that, it’s so gorgeous in person!) The brown that I’ve used on three of my fingers is China Glaze – Ingrid and the blue on my ring finger is also a Mavala named Cobalt Blue.

Last year I did a Monet inspired nail art :)

Friday’s guest post and press launch of Revlon at Eleven.se

By MyNailpolishOnline

I’ve had a lovely time yesterday at Eleven.se‘s press launch of Revlon! Yes, we are finally getting Revlon in Sweden and of course Revlon will also be available to be ordered from the rest of the countries that Eleven is shipping to. Revlon will be exclusively sold at Eleven and we are going to enjoy a big part of Revlon’s make up range including eye shadow pallets, highlighting pallets, lip balms and YES, nail polishes (Yay) starting from the middle of October! I’ve got a lot of goodies to show you from this event and I’m planing on doing that as soon as the 31 Day Challenge is over (that is a few days away ;) ). Until then, I can only tell you that I love everything that I’ve tried so far and that I can’t wait to show you the swatches, news and to tell you a little bit about Revlon and their history.

Let’s move on to the guest post. Yesterday’s guest post was more about nail decorations than polishes. I’ve got some round neon decorations from Make Up Store that can be used both on nails and on skin and I wanted to try all the colors on different bases to see what works best together with these eye-catchy decorations. What surprised me was that bases that I didn’t think would work so well did work with some of the colors so choosing wisely the right color for your decoration will give you the best result. While this way of wearing the decorations could be considered too much of everything there are ways of wearing these and creating a subtle look. For details of the bases take a look at the guest post.
