31DC2014 – Day 21 Inspired by a color and Nail art Sunday

By MyNailpolishOnline

The third part of the challenge is starting today with the theme “Inspired by a color”. Since it’s also Sunday we have Nail Art Sunday at Lelack with a free to choose theme. The color I picked as an inspiration is pink! I actually never thought I would pick pink but this summer I enjoyed a lot of manicures with a soft pink base and I seem to continue to like that base for nail art. I was actually planning on doing a pink water spotted manicure combined with a darker pink and a gold polish but I changed my mind looking at the gorgeous Pipe Dream Polish – V.I.P. Pass and used it for the first water spotted pattern. For the second water spotted pattern I used Orly – Luxe but that didn’t actually give more than a shimmer on top of my first pattern so I continued to do a third water spotted pattern on top of that with the black Nordic Cap NP12. I absolutely love the result!!

Last year’s inspiration was mint/turquoise.

31DC2014 – Day 20 Water Marble

By MyNailpolishOnline

My favorite pattern when it comes to water marble is actually stripes or sideways lines. Why is it my favorite pattern, you might ask? Well, it’s one of the fastest way to water marble since you only have to do it once for all four fingernails, so you actually dip four fingernails into the water marbling pattern and you’ll get your marbles on the nails :D That will reduce the water marbling from ten patterns (one for each fingernail) to four, one for the first four nails, one for the other four nails, one for your left thumb and one for the right thumb. I even tried to dip both thumbs at the same time to gain time but trust me, that’s not a good idea if you are alone at home since you won’t be able to catch the excess polish with the Q-tip after you’ve dipped both thumbs into the pattern :D

For the water marbling below I’ve started with Yes Love G10-2 as a base and used Yes Love G10-2, Kiko 336 Electric Blue and Kicks Lemon Grass for the pattern. The dots are done with Kiko 336 and Kicks Lemon Grass. The picture is taken from my e-book.

Take a look at last year’s water marbling when I was going green.

31DC2014 – Day 19 Galaxies

By MyNailpolishOnline

For today’s challenge I want to share with you a traditional galaxy manicure. The picture is actually taken from my e-book on nail art where I’m showing step by step instructions on how to build a galaxy like this one. The colors used for this galaxy are:

  • Nordic Cap NP12 – the black base
  • A-England – Encore Margot – The silver parts on the nails. These parts will also have a little bit of rainbow effect since Encore Margot is a holo
  • OPI – My Boyfriend Scales Walls – well if I’m using a white then it should be this one since it’s my favorite when it comes to whites :D
  • Yes Love G10-2 – Yes, I wanted a light blue for my galaxy ;)
  • Essie – She’s pampered – a lovely red that was perfect for the red areas

My last year’s galaxy was a little bit sparkier and more colorful :D.

31DC2014 – Day 18 Half Moons

By MyNailpolishOnline

I’ve seen this kind of half moon before on Pinterest in different color combinations and I’m always in love with the result. I decided I wanted to try this in fall colors so I started with Ciaté – For the Frill of it as a base, taped the half moons and did a gradient with For the Frill of it and Catrice – Take it Mint. I kind of liked the result but I wish I would have used two cremes instead. I think the result would have been better.

Last year I played around with naked half moons and flowers :)

31DC2014 – Day 17 Glitter featuring Sparitual Earth Matters

By MyNailpolishOnline

Day 17 of the 31 Days Challenge and the theme is Glitter! The moment I’ve received this GORGEOUS green glitter from the sweetest Emma from Sminkan & Emmas blog the other day I knew I wanted to use it for the Glitter day of the challenge. The glitter is the unbelievably beautiful (and HTF) polish coming from SpaRitual named Earth Matters. Thank you so much Emma for this amazing gift! The polish has such a great formula! Besides the fact that is was easy to apply, the glitter almost covered in one coat! I did apply a second coat though because I wanted to have a little more depth in the manicure.

After applying Earth Matters I applied some rhinestones and a cute bow on the nails. I was considering some glitter placement but I really didn’t have the patience for that so I stayed with these big rhinestones. The manicure isn’t something for a everyday wear but it would be perfect for a special day. The glitters and the bows are coming from Hail the Nails.

For last year’s challenge I did a turquoise gradient.
