Christmas Nail Art

I wanted to wear a nail art done with Christmas colors for this Christmas so I went for an easy to do skittle. Cirque – Ica Valley seemed like a perfect festive polish to wear. I combined it with OPI – My Vampire is Buff and Zoya – Logan on the ring finger and I worn it on it’s own on the pinkie. On the long finger I’ve combined OPI – My Vampire is Buff with Shimmer Cindy and Zoya Logan and I put Shimmer Cindy on the pointer finger nail. That way I could wear the “classical” Christmas colors on my nails the same time. I loved this combination.

This is really gorgeous. I’m not usually a lover of abstract designs but the color combination and theme of this mani is just beautiful Now I’m eager to know what tool(s) and technique did you use on your middle and ring fingers? I’d love to learn the details involved. Here’s my guess…could you tell me if this is correct and, where it isn’t correct, could you tell me what you actually did? It looks like you started with a dried coat or two of OPI’s MVIB? If yes, did you topcoat that before going on to the other two colors? And then did you quickly swipe a thickish stripe of the gorgeous glitters side-by-side from cuticle to nail tips over the OPI using two-thirds of the nail bed width? Then did you use a tool of some sort (small brush, dotting tool, toothpick or something else) to combine the glitters that are touching in a zig-zag pattern? Then did you clean that same tool and use it to also push the glitter with the free side in a zig-zag pattern. Sorry to want to know the exact details but I’d love to try to recreate this (as best as my novice hands will let me) mani. Thank you! Delphi

I’m so glad you like this design Delphi! I’ve started with a couple of coats of MVIB and didn’t use a topcoat before going on to the other colors (but you can do so if you want). I did a stripe of glitter (applied twice due to sheerness) that covered about half of the nail. I then added the green horizontal stripes with a thin brush and did them uneven just to create a zig-zag pattern. You don’t have to push some of the glitters as long as you overlap green regions over both the MVIB and the glitter areas. I hope this helped, otherwise please let me know :)
