31DC2013 – Day 5 Blue Nails

We are already at day 5 and the theme for today is Blue Nails. Being in the mood for fall but still looking a little bit back at summer I reached for two of my favorite blue colors right now, the beautiful dark blue from China Glaze (Queen B) and the summery medium colored blue from Nfu Oh, MOR 08. I painted the two outer nails with Queen B and the two inner nails with the light blue and started to sponge on some dark blue on the outer sides of the middle nails. I wanted to do the sponged part a little rough creating a grunge look  so I didn’t smooth the sponged part of the gradient. I wanted to try a new technique for the swirls so I used a very small dotting tool as suggested by A Lacquered Affair that used a toothpick for doing these swirls. For the swirls I used China Glaze – Strike up a Cosmo.
