Polish Days – Vintage

Polish Days Vintage

Polish Days Vintage

When the theme for the Polish Days was announced I was thrilled! I love vintage patterns even if I don’t necessarily like having a vintage style in my home. I started to look on the internet for inspiration for a pattern that I could do. I could have done the rose patterns I’ve done before in suitable colors but I wanted to try something new. Well, acrylic paint is something I haven’t got along with so far so when I saw this tutorial I knew I needed to try it! This is actually my third try with this design in different color schemes and the one that came out best of the three of them.

The base color of this mani is Essie – Mint Candy Apple. On top of that I used OPI – Thanks a WindMillion and the saran wrap technique to do some random darker spots.

The next thing I did is to apply some newspaper print on top of that. This is the first time I’m using this technique and there are a couple of ways of doing that, both giving the same result. What I used for the newspaper print was plain water. That worked just as well as alcohol for me.
Then the acrylic painting begun! With a little practice on a paper I ended up with these flowers. I’m not quite comfortable with the acrylic painting and I definitely need more practice in that area. I’ve seen so many great tutorials for acrylics that I will need to try a little more of that in the future.
