Lemon – Cure for stained nails?

I wanted to do an Easter manicure yesterday (yellow nails using China Glaze Lemon Fizz). After taken the polish I was wearing off, I looked at the bare nails and I was shocked! They were already yellow, and not in a good way.

Now every nail polish addict (as I am) knows that putting a base coat on will protect your nails from the stains that the dark nail polishes will leave. I knew that too and I did put a base coat on every time I’ve put a polish on but that didn’t completely protected my nails from stains.

So what’s a girl to do? I wanted natural colored nails without yellow stains!

Searching through the internet I found some advices that said that lemon will bleach the nails. So I tried it and it’s kind of working!! My nails look much better now, but they are not completely unstained yet. The next couple of days I will continue bleaching my nails to a natural tone, and hopefully I’ll get my natural colored nails soon :).

While bleaching my nails is only a temporary solution I’m looking for a way to protect my nails from stains while wearing dark nail polishes.

Do you have any advice? How do you do it? Will two base coats be enough protection or is it while the polish is taken off that the staining occurs?

      This is what I’ve done:
I have rubbed lemon slices on my nails and left the lemon juice on for about five to ten minutes. Then I’ve repeated this three or four times the first day, and then a couple of times the second day.
Lemon juice can damage the cuticles and the skin, so you’ll have to moisturize your hands after you have used the lemon juice.
      Good luck!
